One of the biggest things keeping people from reaching their full potential is the fear of failure. If you were amazing at everything the first time you tried, would you even enjoy it?
One thing I was never able to do was run. I was tired of saying 'I can't run'...so I made a commitment to myself to fix that.
When I first started training about 6 years ago, I was running at an average of a 14 - 15 minute pace. Running 2 miles felt like death. It was HARD. I felt like everyone was watching me, and I was embarrassed at how slow I was.
As challenging as it was, I tried to create small goals for myself to reach. Once I reached them, it was onto the next.
With a LOT of training, I stopped paying attention to others around me and what they might be thinking. I pushed away the thoughts of judgment and I focused on my own progress.
While I'm not the fastest runner (I've come to terms and I'm completely comfortable knowing I will never win a race), I now run an average 9:30 - 10 minute pace on my daily runs, and with lowering my pace, I can run for a long time!
You can learn to find happiness and encouragement in the struggles you face. You can train your mind and body to do ANYTHING that you want.
You just have to be brave enough to suck for a bit!
