Do you practice mindfulness when you eat? Adding these simple practices to meal time can help increase satiety and decrease mindless snacking throughout the day.
1. Don't Rush: Eat slowly, taking the time to enjoy what you are eating with all of your senses. Enjoy the taste, smell, and texture of your food. Digestion starts with how well you chew, and better digestion leads to better absorption of nutrients (and a healthier you!)
2. Grab a Plate: Most of us are very visual people. Remember the last time you were wowed by an entrée arriving to the table at your favorite restaurant? Recreate that feeling each time you eat. You'll be more satisfied with your meal, and less likely to overeat.
3. Eat Tech Free: Put down your phone, shut off the TV, and charge your tablet. Eating is a time to focus on the task at hand. If you distract yourself while eating, you're more likely to overeat or be hungry again sooner, as your mind has not been fully engaged in the process of fueling your body.
