mental toughness

One of the hardest things to learn and continue to practice is mental toughness.

By definition, mental toughness is the idea of being able to push past failures by remaining positive and competitive. It also involves training and preparing oneself to be mentally ready for whatever challenges come our way.

With nutrition and fitness, there's a lot of confusion around what mental toughness really is.

Mental toughness is:

- Asking for help, NOT thinking you're always right

- Being true to who you are, NOT acting to impress others

- Wanting to get better, NOT wanting to prove yourself to others

- Knowing you can do hard things, NOT feeling like a failure if you don't (insert challenge here)

- Cheering on other's success, NOT seeing their success as your failure

Practicing mental toughness is something that I prioritize with clients. Without your head in the game, mistakes can be made, burnout is common, and most of all, you're set up for success with anything that life throws at you now and well into the future.
