Today is National Walking Day!
One of my favorite low impact steady state exercises to do - I take at least 4 walks a week.
Whether alone, with my crazy child, or one of my three dogs, we make our way around the neighborhoods getting in fantastic exercise while accomplishing so much more.
Among many other health benefits, consistent walking provides you with:
- Lowered blood pressure
- Increased aerobic capacity
- Reduced risks of heart attacks, strokes, type 2 diabetes, and osteoporosis
- A stimulated digestive system
Some added benefits:
- An opportunity to think through your day or solve problems
- A chance to speak and bond with loved ones
- Boosted memory, lower anxiety and stress levels
And if you're Ariya...a chance to dance and sing down the sidewalk, because the world is your stage!
Try to get out there and get at least a mile in walking - you won't regret it!
