As of June 2021, 74% of American adults who gained weight from 2020 lockdowns and COVID-19 restrictions revealed that they are still struggling with losing the new weight gained, as the average weight gain was 29 pounds.
54% said that they’d gained weight due to restrictions disrupting their health routines.
57% reported that they were exercising less.
68% admitted that they were snacking more.
2020 was a disaster of a year for many people. It stopped our progress in more than a few areas of life. It required us to change our habits - restricted our access to healthcare facilities, gyms, classes, and mental health services.
While COVID-19 is still a huge factor in certain areas of our country, we have to do whatever we can to regain our physical and mental health. Why?
People who put on more than 11 pounds are at higher risk of developing coronary heart disease and Type II diabetes.
Those who gain more than 25 pounds are put at higher risk of stroke.
Maintaining good nutrition and frequent physical activity are key factors to retaining positive mental health.
Ultimately, we did what we had to do to get through what is *hopefully* the hardest events we will face in our lives, and we are lucky to have made it to today.
We can't reflect back on our choices and 'shoulda woulda coulda' our past - but we CAN make changes to put ourselves on track to being our best selves.
Now that we are more than halfway into 2021, let's work on a plan to get you back to where you deserve to be: physically and mentally stronger, healthier, and happier than ever before.
No more regrets - let's get going.
